I’m a songwriter. A songwriter uses their voice, (and sometimes other instruments) to move people.* Once I’ve learned to move a person with my voice, I’ve learned how to move them, period, full stop.
How will I use my voice to move people? Will I move them toward greater awareness, toward greater compassion, toward greater self-knowledge? I aspire to. If you are someone who moves people as well, I encourage you decide how you want to move people.
What is the direction you’d like a person to move?
You don’t have to do much to move people. And the way in which you move them doesn’t have to be epochal. Reaching out to someone so they know you hear their hopes, fears, and aspirations is moving them. Speaking about “hopes, fears, and aspirations” may sound grandiose. But it’s as simple as saying, “Hey, I see you.”
*In a typo, I wrote; “A songwriter uses their voice, (and sometimes other instruments) to love people.” That can be true too).
